0800 389 1652

I got a call today from Barclays fraud detection team. They left a message asking me to call them on 0800 389 1652. I found this:

and decided not to call it.
Instead I rang Barclays myself and eventually got through to the team. I told them about this once my own suspected fraud query was resolved and they asked for the number. "That's our number" I was told. The caller said she'd look into it and I suggested they put that number on the Barclays website. Of course I could be one of the scammers at 0800 389 1652 but until Barclays do put that number somewhere where it is clearly a Barclays number, ring the number on the back of your card to get to the bottom of the matter.

I am really grateful for people like Charlie (of Charlie's diary) who alert us to scams but I tend not distruct all foreign sounding people :)

I am so mad

How many blogs get started when someone just needs to vent their anger?

I took Friday off work for a mobile phone to arrive from Orange delivered by Parceline.
By 3.45pm I was going crazy being indoors. My door hadn't buzzed and neither had I received a phone call. I went downstairs to my flat's communal hall to find a "sorry we missed you" card.
I rang Orange asking them how I could complain since the only number I had for Parceline was an automated service for rearranging delivery.
Orange offered to provide Parceline with another address so I asked them to deliver it my family.

Happier Helen

Then today I got home at lunch to see another "Sorry we missed you". I called Orange who said that once they'd asked Parceline to deliver then it's out of their hands. But still offered to take my family's address again (didn't like this guy).
I tried another number for Parceline and eventually got through to customer services. The woman there contacted the driver who said he'd tried ringing the buzzer 3 times. And that they weren't given my number by Orange. We left it so that they'd try again tomorrow calling my mobile first when on the way. But of course Orange's request for delivery to the other address might get through by then so who knows what'll happen until it happens.

Resigned Helen

There may be further posts on general subjects, but no guarantees.
